David Franklin

David Franklin sang the Commendatore in Don Giovanni on the 1930s Glyndebourne recording, and was an excellent racounteur, later being a panelist on the radio panel show, My Music.
Prokofiev – Peter and the Wolf

Colonne Orchestra, Isaie Disenhaus
The Classics Club X1031
Matrices X1031A-2H

Coupled with:
Prokofiev – Summer Day Suite Op.65a
Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Adolf Fritz Guhl

Another of the many forgotten recordings on the Classics Club label was a coupling of two Prokofiev works: Peter and the Wolf, and the Summer Day Suite. The orchestra and conductor for Peter and the Wolf are the same as for Oda Slobodskaya’s recording on the same label. Although the sound quality is different on the 2 LPs it appears that the orchestral parts may actually be the same in the two recordings.
