Vincenzo Bellezza

Vincenzo Bellezza (born 1888) made his conducting debut at the San Carlo in Naples in 1908. In the 1920s and 30s he conducted both at Covent Garden and the Metropolitan. His most substantial recordings are the 1955 Il Tabarro with Tito Gobbi, and the 1946 La Traviata with Guerrini, Infantino and Silveri. He conducted a number of live recordings from Covent Garden in the mid to late 1920s, including Nellie Melba’s farewell, and works with Chaliapin. Around 1930 he made a number of studio recordings for the Gramophone Company, of overtures and other small works, mostly Italian.
