Bruno Walter was a much-loved conductor, with an extensive discography, ranging from the acoustic period through to stereo LPs.

Walter’s acoustic recordings have not been widely reissued. This, the first of his four 78rpm recordings of the Siegfried Idyll, has been available on a limited edition Japanese CD. In total, thirteen different recordings of this work have been available in recordings by Walter (including a number of live recordings.)
